Job Title:
   Project Gateway Skills Trainer - Admin Support


Certification:
   Associates degree and 2 years’ experience or a combination of education and relevant experience to equal 4 years.
   

Experience:
    Identify student intern’s strengths, interests and abilities related to job skill acquisition and preparation for employment. Use job coaching techniques to promote the intern’s job skill development. Responsible for providing effective job skills training, travel training and transition support services to prepare Project Gateway interns for successful, competitive, integrated employment in the community.
   

Skills Required:
   -Knowledge of information and techniques needed to provide job coaching supports to Project Gateway interns and to provide guidance and training including appropriate job accommodations.
   -Assurance and support for safety and security of the employee and the rules, regulations, precautions, prevention, and the protection of people, data, and property as required by the employer.
   -Knowledge of diversity and inclusion best practice and ability to support inclusive employment.
   -To have not had a felony conviction or founded dependent child or adult abuse record.
   -To complete the requirements of health, immunizations, drug test and employee orientation of Waterloo Schools.
   
   

Additional Notes:
   -Provide individualized employability skills training and supports to each intern at the host business including coaching, building natural supports in hospital departments, identifying, creating and implementing reasonable accommodations, assistive technology, etc.
   -Participate and successfully completes basic job coach training within six months of hire (Systematic Instruction, Lean and other appropriate training) and continual staff development
   -Works with instructor to assess, share and provide feedback of intern skill progress and record data, completing necessary task analyses, evaluations, reports and other documentation
   -Works with team to develop internship sites, write job descriptions, task lists, job analysis and develop necessary accommodations and modifications for the internships
   -Assists in educating coworkers and host site staff on disability awareness and disability disclosure
   -Reinforces employability skills and assists intern to understand and interpret work culture
   -Assists in interview training process for interns to obtain internships and competitive employment
   -Learns internship duties across host site departments and make any modifications and accommodations (label cabinets, simplifies written instructions, etc.) necessary to promote intern independence for successful completion of the internship duties
   -Teaches safe practices according to the work environment and business requirements
   -Models appropriate workplace behavior and practices positive feedback techniques with interns, colleagues and other staff
   -Assist in training interns to meet required standards in the areas of personal hygiene, communication, interviewing and self-management and advocacy as they relate to successful employment
   -Work with hospital staff and instructor to determine new job tasks as intern gains competencies and confidence
   -Meets with the instructor and department mentors regularly to discuss issues and problem solve obstacles affecting intern’s performance
   -Communicate to make decisions regarding any issues that may affect an intern's success at a worksite or competitive place of employment. These decisions may be related to continued job coaching, fading, self-management, job tasks, etc.
   -Assist and support in exploring job opportunities that match intern’s interests and skills, and communicate with all team members about job opportunities.
   -Attends individual employment planning meetings, as appropriate, to know intern’s goals, strengths, interests and challenges and provide feedback
   -Provides new internship ideas to team
   -Performs travel training with interns when utilizing public transportation
   -All other duties as assigned.
